CAUTION: Commonly termed Tower Clamps, the tower does not form until the screw is tightened. Use pliers to hold the captured nut at the base of the screw while tightening the screw. We recommend they should be tightened slowly in this manner. Never use an air powered wrench. No warranty for fractured clamps.

SMOG CLAMP IDENTIFICATION: all Corvette smog clamps were Wittek GN Series clamps that have a 7/16" wide band. Phony repro's are Wittek GM Series clamps with a 1/2" wide band. THE GM does not refer to General Motors. Most all repro Wittek tower clamps have the wrong size saddle just below the screw. Larger tower clamps use large saddles; smaller tower clamps use smaller saddles. The consequence of the wrong sized saddle is this makes the band form an asymmetrical oval instead of being round. Over tightening the oval to prevent leaks is a problem & clamps are often broken. Once you see that asymmetry, you know its a repro.
