USE: only very early 427's came with steel fan shrouds which were replaced in production with plastic fan shrouds due to overheating problems.

the BACK STORY
Around 1984 Mr. Ken May the Director of Warehousing & Distribution for all of General Motors (now retired) provided me with the actual GM Blueprints for Radiator, Fan Shroud & Air Dam Seals. We needed these to accurately reproduce these parts. These could never be reproduced from the parts found on original production line Corvette's because of the nature of the rubber, their assembly procedures & the environment in the engine compartment. All closed cell sponge rubber literally shrinks in all dimensions throughout its life. Furthermore most of the parts are crushed & distorted by the parts they are assembled between.
Soon we realized that zip was ordering these parts from us wholesale and then they began to copy them. Literally making a repro from a DocRebuild repro - because they never had these GM blueprints. For decades I have publicly proclaimed they merely copied repro's as well as special marks that identified their actions. In order to confuse & bewilder you they repeatedly obfuscate the problem with extraneous misleading claims - outright lies.
Justin Abbot the lap dog for David Walker at zyp has been tasked to distribute these lies. He has repeatedly states that I claim invention of these parts. These are dirty lies. I have never claimed to have invented these parts. My claim is that I was the first to reproduce these parts - and do so accurately. Incidentally in 1984 Justin Abbott was 9 or 10 years old; then was in the military from 1993 to 1997 - therefore he did not even start working at zip until a decade after we brought these to the marketplace. I cut wholesale to zip in 1993 - apparently he is a clairvoyant.
Abbott states that his boss David Walker takes the high road i.e. meaning silence - but that actually means he cannot dispute these facts - they had no blueprints. I have surreptitiously ordered some some of their products and they are poor imitations.
TIP: it you see a zip part number that begins with a Z that is one of their own offerings - a zip repro - or rather on my view a re-poop. Unfortunately, for you the consumer there is no knowledge of how these parts were reproduced. zip is a money grubbing liar & phony laughing all the way to the bank with your money. But they are so polite. Bernie Madoff was the epitome of politeness running his scam.
